number 3; acrylic on paper; 10" square
I can't quite say what this is yet. The One-hundred Days project has reawakened an interest in paint and what it can do - especially big, thick , juicy paint. These larger compositions are made with the idea of breaking down the traditional representation of place and of experimenting with the medium. But I can't say I am entirely happy with the results. So far I am most satisfied with number 1 in the series where I maintained a lot of the traditional paint-handling and methods of rendering space but played with and stretched the color harmonies. I am really out on the edge of what I know right now feeling around in the dark, so we'll see what comes of it.

ooooh! I love the thick paint that jumps right out at me even on my little laptop screen, particularly 1 & 2. Checking out your blog is a great way to start the day. I noticed you posted at 5am. 5am?
